FAQs

When is best to elope to Northern Ireland?

When is best to elope to Northern Ireland is entirely dependent on your preference. If you are looking for those dramatic, dark, magical shots, you probably want to brave the autumnal or winter months. We can have rain, which is common but usually passes by quickly, and allows for dry spells. If it does rain on your wedding day, just try to embrace it and incorporate it, allowing the photographer to add more emotion and energy to the image. In Summer the days are long and filled with light, sheep graze outside and the sunrises are very early, making for a quiet and peaceful shoot.

What if we don’t get legally married officially on the day of our elopement?

This is the most common question. 90% of my couples that travel from the USA or Canada that elope here in Northern Ireland, don’t legally marry here. They choose to do the legal paperwork at home.

On your elopement day, do whatever you two actually want to do, and get married in a legal ceremony later. You can sign the documents whenever you want, maybe at your local courthouse before or after your Ireland Elopement ceremony. Alternately, hold a small ceremony where you sign your license in front of family and friends.
Your elopement day is your wedding, not because you’re signing your license, but because you’re repeatedly choosing each other as your spouse in a setting that is special and important to you both.

Can we extend an invitation to our elopement?

It’s your elopement day; you get to decide who to invite.

You can embark on an adventure whether it’s just the two of you or includes your closest friends and family. Whether it’s your entire family, just your sister, your dog, your grandmother, your best friend, or even just the two of you, you can invite anybody you want. It’s your magical, wonderful day, and you get to choose every ideal detail.

How do we choose where to elope in Northern Ireland?

One of the best aspects of eloping is that you can go wherever you choose!

That prospect offers such lovely freedom, but I am also aware of how daunting having too many options can be.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. I will guide you through this. I will send you a questionnaire to get to know you both, it asks everything about what you are dreaming about for your day. I will then send you some epic location ideas and help you find that dream location just for you. I will help you as much as you need to create your dream intimate wedding or elopement day.

Are witnesses required at our Northern Ireland Elopement ceremony?

This depends if you decide to have your legal ceremony in Northern Ireland or do the legal paperwork back home.

If you are set on getting legally married on your elopement day in an area requiring witnesses, I will provide you with 2 witnesses.

How do payment schedules work?

I require 25% down at the time of booking to hold your date, and the remaining 75% is due 6 weeks before your wedding.

What do we wear for photos?

I have a style guide I can send over, but just wear something that is comfortable and is your style. Be yourselves! Sticking to neutrals is best, but message me and I can help you choose an outfit based on the location we will shoot at!

What kind of weather should I expect?

The weather in Northern Ireland can be unpredictable, but that’s part of its charm! You might experience a mix of sunshine, clouds, and rain, sometimes all in the same day. Be prepared for anything and embrace the unique atmosphere each weather condition offers.

How long in advance should we book our elopement?

I recommend booking your elopement at least 6-12 months in advance to ensure you get your preferred date and to allow plenty of time for planning and making travel arrangements. However, if you’re more spontaneous, I can sometimes accommodate shorter notice elopements depending on my availability.

Do you offer packages for elopements in Northern Ireland?

Yes, I offer several packages to suit different needs and budgets. Each package includes a set number of hours of photography, a curated list of potential elopement locations, assistance with planning and logistics, and an online gallery of edited images. Additional services such as officiants, flowers, and hair and makeup can also be arranged.
